Become a Volunteer

Only a small part of the Sails for Sustenance mission is accomplished here at our HQ in Miami. Our activities are carried out by volunteers all over the US. Even if you don’t have an old sail to donate, we need your, your sailing team’s, or your yacht club’s help to get unused sails onto fishing boats in Haiti. Below are some ways you can get involved. Don’t hesitate to contact us by phone or e-mail.

Collect Sails at a Regatta

Set up a table at a local regatta. We will help you spread the word among regatta participants in advance of the event.

Host a Box

Host a SFS collection box at your yacht club or sail loft where sails can be dropped off. A local SFS volunteer will periodically collect the donated sails from your box.

Storage & Transportation

Do you have extra space in your garage, basement, barn, or warehouse? We might need your help to store sails collected in your area until arrangements can be made to transport them for domestic processing before they are distributed to the fishermen of Haiti.

Are you bringing down a boat or truck to New Orleans or South Florida for races or cruising? We may need you help to haul sails down to one of our collection centers.
